Robert (Bobby) Gaston, PhD
T32 Pulmonary Fellow
Bobby received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Franklin & Marshall College where he was a student-athlete, playing baseball for four years (2014-2018). He pursued his doctorate in organic chemistry with Greg Dudley at West Virginia University, where he focused on synthesizing natural products and associated biologically active analogs. After receiving his PhD, Bobby became a postdoctoral researcher with Dirk Trauner at the University of Pennsylvania where he has worked on projects in total synthesis and photopharmacology. Since 2025, he has joined the Brenner group as synthetic chemists to help make and design ionizable lipids for the creation of lipid nanoparticles.
