We hope our staff and the kids all enjoyed the first annual Penn Pulmonary / LBI Bring Your Kid to Work Day event!
Special thanks go to the amazing team of trainees who actually did the teaching and hard work: Sara Kass-Gergi, Serena Omo-Lamai, Marco Zamora, and Liam Chase. Kudos to their great performances in teaching kids about STEM and medicine!
By all accounts, it seems to have been a success! We look forward to making it even better next year.

10am - 10:45am: Medicine Show: ultrasound the heart of a kid, stethoscope to listen to a heart beating, view peripheral blood smears through a microscope
10:45am - 11:30am tour: Lab tour (Brenner lab): show fluorescent nanoparticles synthesis, similar to the nanoparticles in the COVID vaccine; learn engineering of a medical device by a grad student showing various engineered prototypes for a device that prevents opioid overdose deaths
